CEC Bank blocked several cards after being advised that information collected in an international database may have been compromised, the bank announced yesterday.
“We received official notifications that information related to a number of cards issued by financial institutions in Romania and elsewhere may have been compromised following a hacker attack on an international database,” a release by CEC informs.
To protect the clients’ accounts and in keeping with contractual terms, CEC Bank blocked several cards and will re-issue new ones free of charge. “We underline that the attack did not target CEC Bank cards in particular and is not the result of potential breaches in the system operated by the bank. Our clients’ funds are safe,” the release further reads.
