Romania's domestic consumption shrank by 0.7 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, compared with a 4.0 percent contraction in January-March, data showed on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
Final National Statistics Board data showed gross domestic product for April-June contracted 0.5 percent on the year, matching a flash estimate released last month.
European Union and IMF officials estimated the economy would contract by about 1.9 percent this year after a fall of more than 7 percent in 2009 as austerity measures hit spending, but that gross domestic product would grow 1.5-2 percent in 2011.
